United chief executive David Gill and assistant manager Carlos Queiroz have apparently flown to Lisbon for talks over a possible move.
The pair were pictured leaving a Lisbon hotel after a meeting with senior Sporting officials and it seems a fee of around £14million would be enough to secure the highly-rated youngster.
Spurs have not commented as usual, so there is still hope that a deal could be on the cards, but having beaten ManYoo to Bale I am sure Ferguson will be less than impressed to miss out on another transfer target.
